Forførende sushi med 5 stjerners lykke

Hverdagen blir aldri den samme igjen, etter et besøk på Kitima i Kronendal. For flere hundre år siden handlet boerne (nederlenderne) og drev storstilt sjøfart mellom Cape og Ayutthaya; fortidens hovedsstad av Siam.

Kronendal er fra denne storhetstiden og de vestlige og europeiske bygningsskikker ble adoptert og utført i Cape Town områdene. Flere deler og steder av restauranten inni, har små områder der du kan se malingsstypene, dekoren og fargene som engang var – og hvordan det har blitt restaurert og bevart i sin aller skjønneste prakt. Bevar meg vel; ville min far ha sagt. Det har de klart. I tillegg til å være trendy og moderne i sin sofistikerte form.

Kronendal ligger i Hout Bay, ti minutters kjøring fra Constantiaområdet der jeg «bor» hos mine venner, Sissel og Geir Tellefsen. For å få bord her, er det helt vanlig å vente i tre uker. Alltid fullt, og det er ikke vanskelig å forstå. Maten er usedvanelig god, servicen upåklagelig og

selv vegatarianere som meg går gråtkvalt og fornøyd tilslutt hjem derfra.

Gråtkvalt fordi man bare har lyst til å bestille mer, spise mer, glede seg enda mer over livet.

Før du spiser, er det helt greit med en liten aperitif eller to fra menyen. Over ser du Martini Espresso. Den smakte nydelig og så nydelig ut. Restauranten serverer thai mat, Fine dining, Asian og Sushi. En forrett koster fra R35.- (som er ca 26 kroner) og to retters middag koster fra R140 (ca 110 norske kroner). Kjøkkenet har fem stjerner – og det forteller absolutt alt du trenger å vite.

Lykken er akkurat som forstanden!

Denne aperitifen heter Mojito Sparkling. Trenger ikke være så blond at jeg tror jeg må fortelle deg hva den innholder.

Den smaker friskt og anbefales alle dere med leppestift eller lipgloss i vesken.

En liten Strawberry Daiquiry klarte vi også å få plass til på bordet, der vi satt utendørs og lurte på om livet kunne bli bedre enn dette. Der og da kunne det ikke det. Gode venner, god mat og god drikke og ikke minst artige samtaler rundt bordet. Selv om vi bare var tre personer på vårt bord, er samtalen omtrent alltid i gang om store og små entreprenøriske temaer, om opplevelsene vi hadde hatt tidligere på dagen, om livet generelt – eller så satt vi og var fornøyd med å være stille i oss selv noen øyeblikk. Vi hadde det perfekt – som alltid.


Fordi bartenderen hadde vært raus med brennvinet i Martini Espressoen, måtte vi ha en Chili Chocolate Martini også. Den var sterk, god og absolutt et snertent syn – en helt vanlig torsdags aften. På Kitima kan du sitte innendørs eller utendørs. Valget er ditt. Det er også flere chambre separé, dersom det er det du trenger. I alle størrelser.

Hvert rom har en ipod innstallert.

Slik at du kan stille inn volum, finne en spilleliste du liker og høre på akkurat det du ønsker deg. For du plugger jo selvfølgelig bare din egen til, dersom Kitima ikke har forstått musikksmaken din. Ikke sant?

Jeg spiser detaljer like rått som andre spiser rå fisk og suhi. Det er sjelden at jeg forlater et sted og ikke kan gi en fotografisk og detaljert beskrivelse av absolutt alt som var innen inredning, matrialbruk, menykart, bekledning, toaletter, design og absolutt alt. Det er naturlig for meg – men, på en slik reiseblogg blir en repetisjon av ord ikke det samme som bilder. Innimellom har jeg også tatt ganske få bilder. Fordi det ikke «passet» seg slik.

Jeg spør alltid om lov til å ta bilder, og er forundret over at så mange sier ubetinget ja…

-uten å spørre hva jeg skal gjøre med bildene i etterkant.

Den ubetingede servicen og gjestfriheten som er så merkbar over hele Sør Afrika er så absolutt tilstede også her. Alle drinkene i baren er forresten laget av Heinz Lummer, en tysker med et snev Sør Afrikaner i seg. Han har mikset og kreert kreative nye og kule versjoner av tradisjonelle og internasjonale coctailer og drinkoppskrifter.

Kitima mener selv at de har et sexy og forførende barkart.

Vi bestilte rundt ti retter, hadde ekstremt deilig vin – nok en gang, flere aperitifer, og regningen kom på i underkant 800 norske kroner. For et fem stjerners måltid, med fem-stjerners venner. Sjekk meny og prisene under.

Latterlig billig for seriøs mat.

Med en gang sushi serveres på stettefat og etasjefat blir den enda vakrere, enda bedre og ikke minst det tar enda mindre plass på bordet. Slik at vi kan bestille mer mat, flere retter og mer drikke. Rett og slett genialt. Hvorfor i all vide verden opererer norske restuaranter med så få etasjefat? Akkurat det håper jeg Hellstrøm setter fokus på i sin neste fase av tv-verdenen.


Fortalte jeg forresten at jeg møtte produksjonssjefen til Hellstrøms nye tv-konsept i Sør Afrika?  Lars, konen Elisabeth og deres to skjønne prinsesser har et sabbat år i Cape Town. Lars ble veldig bekymret hver gang Elisabeth og jeg møttes i selskap eller på kafe. Jeg hadde nemlig plantet tanken om å få en kontainer sendt til Norge, med vakre møbler og stæsj fra Afrika til våre ringe boliger i kalde nord. Lars synes de har nok. Elisabeth synes innimellom ikke det…:)


Derfor tenkte jeg at hvis jeg får Elisabeth til å lese denne bloggposten, – jeg har jo tross alt nevnt hennes navn her… og dermed kanskje Lars – så ender etasjefat-tanken min mulig hos Eivind? En litt kompleks strategi, som mulig er enklere å gjennomføre ved å sende en mail til herr Hellstrøm selv. Eller innføre en etasjefatelske-side på Facebook og få mange hundre tusen medlemmer. «For oss som elsker etasjefat».

Kitima har åpent tirsdag til lørdag fra 17:30 til sent.. hva nå enn det betyr. Antakeligvis at du kan sitte der til du er ferdig… På utsiden står helt selvfølgelig en mann og passer på bilen din. Det gjør noen overalt. Til og med på kjøpesentrene. Da er det viktig at du gir TIPS til han som er parkeringsvakt. i hvertfall R10 – og du har helt klart sikkert råd til mer.

Baren stenger 02:00 og kjøkkenet stenger 22:30. Søndager er det åpent fra 12:00 til 15:00. Som alle restauranter og butikker generelt – de tar kort. Fra American , Mastercard, Eurocard, Vis, Diners… Du betaler cash med Rand. Dollar funker ikke..( De må du veksle i en av alle de bankene som finnes, og som er trygge, raske og rene)

Det tror jeg du ikke vil angre på i ettertid:) Det er også helt normalt å forhåndsbestille bord flere måneder før du skal spise der.
